Created with Midjourney.

Our lives are all about mobility: we book trips, work, shop, create content, and do everything else on the go. With mobiles as our constant companions, smart businesses recognize the value of accessibility and ease of use. They develop mobile solutions for every little task, catering to our fast-paced lifestyles.

And with content creators as the new vloggers, accessible and easy-to-use tools hit the jackpot. Video editing tools that allow on-the-go editing are the major winners compared to difficult software that's tied to a computer.

And why not? With social media algorithms requiring tons of content, fast interactions, and quality videos, expedited content creation is now a must for most people, including content creators, influencers, and YouTubers.

That's where InVideo comes in, delivering fast-produced quality video content through their AI video editing tools and web platform. And they're also offering a promising mobile app for video editing on the go. I put InVideo's mobile app to the test to see if it offers content creators a useful video editing tool on their smartphones. Let’s dig in.

Discovering the App's Capabilities: Unveiling Its Hidden Gems

The InVideo (Filmr) mobile app provides users the freedom to edit videos from anywhere at any time. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices and offers a free version.

Users can use the InVideo (Filmr) app to create new projects, edit existing ones, and export them with a few taps on their mobile device. The app has a simple and easy-to-use interface that enables users to create high-quality videos in just a few steps.

The best thing about InVideo’s mobile app is that it provides access to a library of professional pre-made templates and royalty-free audio tracks. The free version is limited to fewer options but still manages to make video editing convenient.

How to use the InVideo (Filmr) App: Unlock Your Video Editing Skills

The InVideo (Filmr) app has quite an intuitive interface, which you will see is commonly used for video editing.

At first, you will have to create an account and choose if you want the paid version or the free version. InVideo offers a 3-day trial for the app.

Note: I used the free version of the InVideo iOS app for this article.

InVideo Mobile App: Main Interface.

The main interface of the app is straightforward and gives you the option to create a project from scratch or choose from their template gallery.

InVideo Mobile App: Template Gallery.

The InVideo app offers aesthetic templates with different styles and themes, which makes it easy to find a fit for your ideas. While the free plan doesn't offer many template options, it does give you complete freedom to create videos according to your personal style and preferences. This empowering feature makes it easy to ensure your videos align perfectly with your creative vision.

However, I chose to start a project from scratch using two clips. Here is how the editing workboard looks.

InVideo Mobile App: Workboard.

The app covers almost all the required features for an effective video editing program. You can import, crop, resize, scale, and trim all your clips within the app. Adding music is easy, whether you use their own audio library or music from your phone. Moreover, you can seamlessly record and edit your voiceover using the InVideo app.

InVideo Mobile App: Text and Fonts.

You can add text to your videos and edit it to match your style. The edit options for text blocks include animations, fonts, colors, and alignments.

InVideo Mobile App: Video Transitions.

If you work with multiple clips, you can add transitions between them to make them look more professional and appealing. The free plan offers an impressive amount of transition options to choose from. However, if you have a specific transition style in mind, you might have to pay for it if it’s marked for the Pro version of the app.

InVideo Mobile App: Video Effects.

For each individual clip, you can add effects, animations, and filters if you want to give your video a specific vibe.

At the end, this is the video that resulted in just 6 minutes of play.

InVideo Mobile App: Results.

It is important to note that the free version of the InVideo app has a permanent watermark on all your videos, which is not ideal. If you want to get rid of it, you will need to get the paid version. Also, the export options are limited with the free version. The Pro plan offers the possibility to directly integrate your video with apps such as Instagram and TikTok or save your video as a GIF. The free option only allows you to save the video to your phone and doesn’t have any social media integrations.

Limitations of the InVideo Mobile App

While the app offers several features and templates, its editing capabilities are still limited compared to the desktop editing version. You won't be able to create complex animations or advanced transitions, for example.

InVideo's mobile app allows you to edit videos up to a maximum size of 15 minutes, which may not be sufficient for some users who need longer videos. Additionally, you can edit videos at a limited number of resolutions, which may limit your options.

The mobile app also lacks InVideo’s star feature on the web version: its AI text-to-video tool. While you may use the mobile app for Instagram stories, reels, or TikToks, it will be a lot more difficult to create longer, more intricate videos for YouTube, for example.

Final Thoughts on InVideo (Filmr) app

It is definitely a smart move for InVideo to create a mobile app and make its way to a rapidly expanding market of content creators. The app is easy to use and helps you create your social media content in minutes with all you need at hand: templates, music, text, and transitions. And how cool is it to have all that in your back pocket?

However, the app has its limitations if you’re trying to work on larger video editing projects. The InVideo app has its disadvantages when compared with its own web platform and, might I say, other popular video editing apps. The InVideo mobile app offers limited editing features compared to the desktop version.

In the end, if you know your specific needs for a video editing app, InVideo can be a good option. Social media marketers can thrive on it. But if you have major video projects in mind, the web version might be a better fit.
